These Capoeira Cords are genuine from Brazil, hand braided and to be used by Capoeira Students depending on the student's level. The Capoeira Cords are Capoeira's version of belts as in other Martial Arts and are givin only once a year in Capoeira Luanda at a graduation ceremony called a Batizado or Troca de Corda. Traditionally the Batizado/ Troca de Corda is the only time cords are given. The cord system in Capoeira is not standardized; every group has a different order of colours. Some follow the colours of the Brazilian flag -- green, yellow, blue and white -- and others introduce other colours, such as red, orange, purple and brown. Many have mixed-colour belts that are inbetween the main colour levels. Different groups also have different requirements for advancement to the next cord level.
